Your point of view seems to come solely from the viewpoint of those who might want to use this one word. There seems to be no consideration whatsoever of those who could be hurt by one more microaggression (intentional or not) added to an historically long and burdensome list. Use “articulate” for black people if you wish, if you think the bounteous wealth of words in the English language offer you no other options. But be prepared to be thought less of when you choose your own minor convenience over someone else’s pain. And bear in mind, there’s another choice. Rather than inflict pain, you could remain silent. All opinions need not be spoken. Sometimes a smile and nod of agreement speak volumes.
