I don’t think people realize how taking so much “on faith” sets the stage for such abuse. We were given the wonderful gift of reasoning. Seems to me faith and reason can be a balanced pair.

And look how frail even fundamentalists’ faith is. Girls taught all their lives “Thou shalt not lie” continue to lie and say “That’s not who I am.” Well, yes, it is. Look at how willing they are to “forgive” bad people in their circle but hate good people outside it. Not the Christianity I know.
